Congratulations on your engagement!! You’ve likely set your wedding date and started visiting venues and vendors… this is indeed an exciting time! The season between the engagement and the wedding day can make a lasting impression on your marriage. Premarital counseling is designed to help you and your future spouse prepare for the journey of lifelong love by exploring and discussing the strengths and development areas that you each bring to the relationship. In addition, premarital counseling affords you the opportunity to examine where you’ve come from as individuals (family of origin, traditions, experiences) and where you hope to go as a couple (finances, family planning, future endeavors). You might consider premarital counseling as a preventative measure that prepares and equips each of you for the marriage of a lifetime. Sessions are generally 50-minutes in length, although extended sessions can be scheduled. I recommend couples begin premarital counseling 6-12 months before the wedding date with sessions once every other week. I look forward to helping you build a solid foundation for your marriage.
